About the book

Santa's on the roof. Sol Brannigan has his summons. What could possibly go wrong?

One week before Christmas in Mesa, Arizona, process server Sol Brannigan finally corners Gil Hargrove, the Mattress King, on the throne atop his 312,000-light holiday display. She crawls through the plywood reindeer, hands Santa his lawsuit, and swears to the exact minute: 9:47 p.m.

At dawn, Gil is dead in the frost at the foot of his ladder.

Now Sol's sworn affidavit is a killer's alibi, her certification is on the line, and the clues are hiding in a tamale assembly line, a water aerobics class, and her father's frost forecast. Armed with Kimber's label maker, a dog who truly hates khaki, and two very polite men spreading masa in her mother's kitchen, Sol has until the Last Light to learn who she really served.
